Product Information
Lacquer Finish
Ashley products feature a lacquer finish. Formally known as nitrocellulose lacquer, this finish is primarily composed of nitrocellulose—a natural material. Due to a lack of general understanding regarding its care requirements, urethane finishes—which require virtually no maintenance—have become the standard for many consumers. However, to this day, high-end furniture manufacturers frequently utilize natural finishes—such as wax or oil—or lacquer finishes to bring out the inherent beauty of the wood grain.
Antique Distressing
Ashley furniture features an antique-distressed finish.
Regarding "Country of Origin" Labeling
Ashley designs, plans, and develops all of its products in-house. As a global enterprise with manufacturing facilities worldwide, the company sources components and upholstery fabrics from various countries, then ships them to domestic factories for final assembly and finishing. Under U.S. law, if a product's raw materials, components, or labor are not *entirely* sourced within the United States, specific labeling regulations must be observed. Consequently, the "Country of Origin" listed on Ashley products typically indicates the country where the *primary* components were manufactured. However—regardless of the listed country of origin—the final finishing touches are always applied at U.S.-based factories under Ashley's direct supervision.
Furniture Features
Accent Chairs
A personal chair designed for enjoying moments of relaxation in the American home. These chairs are typically placed in the living room or bedroom, providing a comfortable spot for reading or watching movies.
Recliners
Ashley's plush sofas include a style known as the "Zero-Set Recliner." Because the seat cushion slides forward as it reclines, the unit can be positioned just 5 cm (approx. 2 inches) away from the wall—allowing you to fully enjoy the reclining function without needing to leave a large gap behind the sofa.

Lift-Top Tables
A unique cocktail table featuring a tabletop that lifts upward and toward the user. When raised, the tabletop reaches a height suitable for dining—allowing you to enjoy a meal while seated comfortably on your sofa. It also provides an ideal ergonomic height for working on a laptop, making it an exceptionally functional piece of furniture.
Lamps
While ceiling-mounted lighting is the standard in many Japanese households, American interior design frequently utilizes table lamps and floor lamps as accent pieces to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Rugs
Rugs serve to brighten up a room while offering practical benefits such as moisture regulation, sound dampening, and protection against scratches on hardwood floors. Additionally, they allow you to easily and effortlessly transform the look and feel of your living space.
Bed Linens
Ashley’s bed linen basic sets typically include pillow covers, accent cushions, a bed skirt, and either a cotton comforter or a bedspread. Depending on the specific series, some sets may consist solely of a comforter and pillowcases. In the U.S., where it is common practice to show guests one's bedroom, multiple cushions are often arranged to create a more luxurious and elegant atmosphere.
Extension Tables
Ashley offers a wide variety of extendable dining tables. This is because home parties are a popular social activity in the U.S., making extendable tables the standard choice for accommodating large numbers of guests.

Dining Chairs
While the seat height of these chairs—at 48 cm—is higher than that of typical Japanese chairs, the dining tables themselves are also proportionally taller. Consequently, the seated experience—specifically the natural resting position of your elbows on the table—feels no different from that of standard Japanese furniture.
China Cabinets
In Japan, these units are primarily used as cupboards for storing tableware; however, in the U.S., they are typically utilized as display cabinets to showcase fine china and decorative items.
Counter Tables
Among the younger generation in the U.S., hosting standing cocktail parties for friends has become a popular trend, making counter tables a highly sought-after item. They are a versatile and convenient addition to any home, serving equally well as a breakfast bar or a workstation for a laptop.
Pocket Coil Seating
This seating features pocket coils embedded within the sofa cushions. Compared to traditional urethane foam seating, this construction is less prone to sagging over time and provides superior body support.
UltraPlush®
Compared to Ashley’s standard urethane foam seating, this material boasts a 17% higher density. It features a core of urethane foam wrapped in polyester batting, creating a structure that is highly resistant to compression and sagging.
DuraPella®
Ashley’s exclusive microfiber upholstery fabric. It is characterized by its exceptional durability—resisting scratches and scuffs—and its ease of cleaning. As such, it is an ideal choice for households with children or pets, where low-maintenance furniture is a priority.
DuraBlend®
Ashley’s exclusive synthetic leather material. This innovative new material consists of a three-layer structure combining genuine leather and cotton fabric, finished with a surface coating of PU. Unlike standard synthetic leather, the inclusion of a specific fabric component provides elasticity, resulting in a soft and comfortable seating experience.
Bed Sizing
Mattress dimensions vary across Japan, the United States, and Europe. All beds manufactured by Ashley adhere to U.S. standard sizing: children's beds are available in Twin (W96 × L190 cm) and Full (W135 × L190 cm) sizes, while adult beds come in Queen (W152 × L202 cm) and King (W193 × L202 cm) sizes. A size referred to simply as "King" (W180 × L210 cm) has also recently been introduced to the lineup.
